Platin RP 50 WINTER

Safety and performance

The newest winter tyre in the range of PLATIN tyres with improved silica technology and a V-profile in the direction of travel offers excellent traction and optimized handling with shorter braking distances to provide more safety on ice and snow. High performance in the wet through a new type of profile structure and excellent dry performance through transversely stiff tread blocks with a new silica mix that provides greater efficiency make the RP50 WINTER the premium PLATIN tyre.
The RP50 WINTER tyre is available in a range of sizes from 175/65 R 14 82 T up to 225/45 R 17 91 H FR and the range is being extended further.

  • Superb traction on ice and snow

    • Tread lugs on the tread blocks
    • Strongly structured tread blocks with various forms of ribs
    • Prominent grooves in the shoulder area

Short braking distances on wet roads

    • New profile structure
    • Hydro-dynamic tread pattern

Stable cornering grip and high safety when cornering

    • The tread blocks form a stable and peripherally-stiff central tread area
    • Transversely stiff tread blocks at the shoulder

    Real winter tyres

    • The RMA snow flake symbol is the marking to make it clear that it involves a “real” winter tyre. The RMA symbol differentiates it from the usual M+S marking.

    Pointing in the right direction

    • The new profile that is tied to the direction of rotation and using V-technology can dig into the snow more efficiently and so provide better grip.
    • The arrow on the sidewall shows in which direction the tyre should rotate when installed.
  • Optimized handling on ice and snow

    • High-grip voids for reliable cornering in snow
    • Diagonal ribs in the central tread area

High degree of safety against aquaplaning

    • V-grooves in the direction of travel and broad, straight peripheral grooves
    • Hydro-dynamic angular arrangement of the groove structure

    Very good braking performance

    • Alignment of the tread blocks in the rolling direction
    • Stable central tread area with high peripheral stiffness

    Maximum speed

    • The maximum permissible speed is easily legible and is marked on the sidewall without any encoding.

    Safety at a glance

    • The TWI (Tread wear indicator) shows the amount of wear of the tread. We recommend that the tyres are changed when there is 4 mm of tread remaining to ensure more safety on snow and ice. The legal minimum amount of tread is 1.6 mm.
