EU Regulation on Deforestation-Free Products (EUDR)

Dear Customers,

The EU Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) aims to ensure that products placed on the EU market or exported from the EU do not contribute to global deforestation or forest degradation. It entered into force on June 30, 2023, and will apply after a transitional period starting on December 30, 2025.

What does the EUDR apply to?

Among the relevant products are tires, which contain the raw material natural rubber that falls under the regulation. For all such goods, an official Due Diligence Statement (DDS) must be issued when importing into the EU, selling within the EU, producing in the EU, or exporting from the EU. This DDS confirms that the tires have been produced in compliance with the requirements of the EUDR.
What does the EUDR not apply to?
The provisions do not apply to tires mounted on new vehicles imported into the EU. Tires that were manufactured in the EU or imported into the EU before December 30, 2025, are also not subject to the EUDR. This means: stock items that reach us before this date do not have and do not require a DDS reference, regardless of when they are delivered.

How are we acting?

There is no question for us that we will act in compliance with applicable laws, including the EUDR. For some time, we have been preparing the conditions necessary for effective compliance with the regulation. A dedicated project group was estalished for this purpose. We work long-term with high-performing manufacturers and have already started implementing EUDR requirements in our supply relationships. Many suppliers are proactively implementing the regulation’s requirements as part of their sustainability initiatives. The required traceability of raw material and product flows back to the source plantation, along with other due diligence obligations, will be implemented using the specialized IT platform OSAPIENS.

How are we implementing the EUDR in practice?

  • We obtain Due Diligence Statements (DDS) from all manufacturers who supply us with tires or goods containing relevant raw materials.
  • Based on the declarations of our upstream suppliers, we will issue our own Due Diligence Statements to our customers.
  • Together with OSAPIENS, we are developing the provision of EUDR-relevant data for our customers.
  • At appropriate points, such as on delivery notes, we will communicate the DDS reference number and verification number to our customers.
  • We are developing a roadmap for fulfilling the required reporting obligations.

If you have any questions, please contact your usual representatives or management.

Best regards

Interpneu Handelsgesellschaft mbH

The EU energy label for tyres

The new EU tyre label helps consumers to decide in favour of a higher fuel efficiency class for their tyres. This can contribute to large reductions in running costs and emissions. Enhanced wet grip means greater road safety, and details of external rolling noise contributes to a reduction in traffic noise levels.

The actual fuel savings and road safety depend heavily on the behaviour of drivers, and in particular on the following:

  • Eco-driving can significantly reduce fuel consumption
  • Tyre pressure needs to be regularly checked to optimise fuel efficiency and wet grip.
  • Stopping distances must always be respected.

Fuel efficiency class

Less rolling noise saves fuel and cuts CO2. This property is assigned to classes A to E.

Wet grip class

Wet grip is assigned to classes A to E. Wet grip is crucial to safe driving. For instance, the difference between class A and class E braking distances is 18 m.

External rolling noise class

The label presents the volume in dB and the class A (quieter), B, or C (louder). The noise emitted by tyres affects the total noise levels emitted by the vehicle.

Snow grip

The snowflake symbol confirms that the snow tested tyre keeps within the 3PMSF limits (type approval).
